The Devil is in the Details

Attended a Tea Party meeting last night and the guest speaker was a candidate for county commissioner, his presentation was indistinguishable from every leftist fear mongering viewpoint we have ever heard, this is the state of politics in this nation. It was a hit job on a Convention of the States initiative to amend the Constitution.  What rankled me was that intermittently during his presentation he would make a snide remark and look in my direction, he knew I held a differing opinion and tried to discredit me before the fact of  my rebuttal, about what he thought I would present, I was condemned before ever speaking.

Where have we heard that technique before?

I objected and declared that I would speak for myself, I had to make this objection three times before he got the message. During his 30 minute slide show his chief boogeyman, George Soros and is only one man, and a Nazi collaborator from WWII as well. He supposedly trumps the will of the people of this entire nation, it was disgraceful. On being granted the time to address the audience I simply discussed how it was that we have arrived at this juncture and pinpointed where our nation veered left in 1913 with the 16th amendment which has given Washington the power to buy consensus with our own money by spending about 3.5 Trillion yearly on corporate and individual welfare. These funds are about 60% of the entire yearly federal budget, the rest we borrow. Which is actually used to pay all the things the government is supposed to do per the Constitution, like defense, patent office, post office etc…

Then discussed the 17th amendment in which the States simply gave up their check on federal power by being able to appoint, recall and direct Senators in the performance of their duties by the States legislature. In essence turning the Senate into another House of Representatives with six year terms. The major stumbling block for everyone was that they could not see any way possible to identify amendments that needed to be made to the Constitution and it would devolve into a runaway convention with the worst possible outcome.

This was a direct result of the fear mongering.

A vote was taken with a predictable outcome, the people had been frightened by the presentation, they voted down, the idea of a constitutional convention. I then asked, do we need to repeal the 16th & 17th amendment, all but about a few voted yes. So much for the myth of not being able to identify which amendments to propose. What struck me later was that for all the fear that this gentlemen generated, could not counter the logic and reason and calm presentation of the facts. It was agreed that the Constitution must be amended the actual means to do so was not decided, but amended it must be. When we are reminded that we are free citizens and able to direct our own outcome in life, as free citizens we bend our knee to no Monarch real or imagined. The people will respond, with one voice, we must simply be reminded of who we are and that the blood of revolutionaries runs through our veins and we will find the stamina and gumption to relight the lamp of liberty that is being smothered once again.

Every politician that was running for office that was there, pledged to work for the repeal of these abysmal amendments, call me cynical, I will believe it when I see it. However, the candidate for commissioner came up to me afterward and thanked me and said we must amend the Constitution. There is hope for this man and nation.

Voice of Reason, an Appeal for the Rule of Law

Our nation is at a crossroads brought to this point by one hundred years of society rotting influence of the liberal progressive thought, deed and action through amendments to the Constitution by two main initiatives. Both have caused the federal government to grow exponentially. The first initiative was to provide the funding needed to change our nation from a laissez-faire market driven capitalist economic system to the centrally planned over regulated economy we see today.

The other was to restrict the States ability to oversee, direct and control federal legislation as an ongoing check on federal power. None of this would matter if we had men and women of honor and character serving in Washington, however the old adage “absolute power corrupts absolutely” add money and influence and we have a heady cocktail for mischief and corruption. Which is why the Constitution originally forbade taxation by capitation and why the 16th Amendment needed to be ratified to approve the income tax.

With States unable to control their Senators to appoint, recall and direct their voting in the Senate they abandoned their ability to be an ongoing check on federal powers with the 17th amendment, hence the explosive growth of the federal government to its current size and its bloated structure we see today.

Washington In PrayerWe have come to the point that our founders feared and knew would come that our citizens would be intoxicated with the easy life of largesse, that day has come. It is paid to corporations, individuals, States and municipalities to the point that it is almost 60% of the federal budget, with much of it borrowed. This is how the federal government pushes these freedom-destroying initiatives onto our citizens, for road projects, women’s shelters, education and all too many other avenues where they simply have no business being involved.

We are so far down the road that an awakening is occurring in our nation and we have realized that our federal government now threatens our freedom, liberty and economic choices we were once free to make for ourselves. With Obamacare and the Dodd/Frank financial reforms our entire economy is now under the direct control of Washington.

Then when we have a president that believes the he alone can rule this nation and foist his agenda upon our citizens by the stroke of his pen, we have arrived at the suspension of the rule of law. Congress is powerless to stop the abuse, as a matter fact they have been complicit. Republican and Democrat alike, as they approved the funding and have only given lax oversight to all this nation & liberty destroying agenda. Both parties and the Obama government is doing everything possible to destroy the only viable voice standing up against this tyranny, the Tea Party. Which is the only organic movement to bring Constitutional government back to Washington in the last sixty years, possibly one hundred.

This movement is growing daily as our citizens realize that the Emperor has no clothes and he is changing the nation for the worse, he is not alone in this venture, so many others have applauded and pushed this agenda for him as well. It is now at the point that on May 16, 2014 retired Colonel Harry Riley has called for an American Spring, I can certainly appreciate the frustration that everyone feels. However, I am dismayed that my fellow patriots and citizens would be willing to march into the tyrants jaws so willingly before we exercise the Constitutions ultimate power, the right to amend the Constitution under Article V. Even if this rebellious action were to succeed the corrupt system, would be left intact for another generation of citizen legislators to be corrupted, the cycle would only continue.

Visions of the last rebellion that tried to force change on Washington was when General Douglas MacArthur illegally suppressed the Bonus Army of 1932 at the command of President Hoover in violation of the Posse Comitatus Act.

Would Obama act any different?

Personally, I cannot support such a misadventure as a life long advocate of the rule of law. If we do not exhaust every peaceful means to place our federal government back into the confines of the Constitution once again we will have sullied the memories of all that have fought and died for this great nation. If we fail at amending the Constitution then we will have failed as a nation and people that embraced the rule of law over the rule of man. Currently we are assaulted with onerous taxes, edicts and oppression, is this enough to justify revolution? If there is to be, mass protests and even violence let it come as a just and righteous Casus Belli as was our War of Independence, forced upon us and not in anger.valley forge Our founders had suffered a long train of abuses, locked out of their own houses of legislation by King George III; let our tyrants in Washington do this and deny our right to amend the Constitution before we the people take that last drastic step.

That must only be endured until freedom is once again reclaimed and that last shot is fired in anger, or suppressed into oblivion.

We must use the power that our founders gave us to embrace the rule of law against any that wish to deny us our heritage as a free and able people. We must put our shoulder to the wheel and push as one people once again instead of the divided rabble we have become by petty politicians that use our own taxes against us and set one group of citizens against another. With the politics of class warfare and racial division. Let us rededicate ourselves to our posterity and our children’s future and amend the Constitution by amending conventions of the States. before we even think about giving these tyrants our lives, which would only be a willing sacrifice to their treachery.

Leaders will come forward to lead us. Likely from the ranks of the General Staff cashiered by Obama, with veterans and other patriots when that time, God help us is ever needed. I implore anyone that is tempted to travel to Washington on May 16 to reapply your efforts and reaffirm the rule of law instead of the tyrant’s rule of man.

Our Founding Legacy

How many have taken the time to study the most important document in the history of our nation, the Constitution? Is it still taught in our schools, as a vessel of our future posterity as we brave an uncertain future, more so as Obama shreds its precepts daily?

Is it being discarded in favor of the expediency of the day?

This frail and meager & document spent its early life moldering in one government office after another shut away from all and forgotten as mere scraps of parchment that gave birth to a nation. We came together in a perfect union of disparate interests thrown together to provide for our common destiny, and well-being of all our citizens. Our nation has seen such heights of human endeavor and development with unparalleled cooperation among men giving rise to an economic power unrivaled in the history of the world. As well as such, lows that at times caused us to question our very existence as a nation, and a people to rise once again to fulfill our destiny among equals as the greatest nation in the history of the world.

From a rabble that would dare to rise up against the worlds only superpower of its day the British Empire, Parliament and the Tyrant King George III. The sheer audacity of these pilgrims, with all the confidence and brash behavior they could muster in an ultimate act of defiance that defines this nation’s birth as no other.

How many citizens have taken the time to gaze upon this noble experiment in self-governance and wonder upon its meaning to past generations, our children and ourselves or our posterity? While many would claim, it is only worthless bits of parchment; though its value is beyond measure in human potential.

Never before in the history of man, have a people chosen to challenge the natural order of their day and declare with one voice that each individual is sovereign to themselves and not subject to the petty demands of monarchs, nobles and kings, and today presidents.

Each is an equal among men and to each other.

This meager document written with the blood of patriots shed in battle that saw this nation’s birth and their sacrifice to a common cause to see its true meaning. The Revolutionary War was a bloody eight-year conflict that saw all too many defeats in the first six years; the turning point came at battle of Cowpens, from then on, the hand of providence assured our victory.  The Constitution was written in a time where only the educated or landed gentry could read the words written upon its pages; however, it was not written for these people but the common man and citizens’ of the day, all of them…and all that were to come.

It codified the framework for a national government of negative rights with its only charter to safeguard the citizen’s rights for all time.

It created a government of four branches, three of them co-equal they are follows:

Article I the Legislative Branch

Article II the Executive Branch

Article III the Judicial Branch

With such precision, to leave, no doubt, for future generations on the limited powers that this experiment in self-governance imposed upon itself by its citizens. It would have been easy for the framers of the Constitution to create a government that would cruelly exploit its citizens.

They did not choose this path, instead they created a document of such plain meaning that anyone could understand it, then, or at anytime in the future.

The Constitution is simply a declaration as much as the Declaration of Independence is, though this statement intended for King George III and his Parliament to redress our grievances against the Crown as freeborn English citizens. The Constitution is a natural extension of this declaration since the people understood that they were endowed with unalienable or natural rights, chief amongst these were “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.”

They proudly declared this fact to King George and the entire world.

Our founders chose their words carefully laboring as they drafted the Constitution to breathe life into it as they were going to raise a nation from the ashes of eight year’s of war.

They simply proclaimed that each citizen was vesting a portion of their individual sovereignty granted to them as natural rights by the grace of God to a Federal Government for the conduct of their affairs they found to be most pleasing to themselves.

This is why the first three words, We the People  are written with such boldness, emphasis and specificity that is not repeated anywhere else in this noble experiment of self-governance, known simply as our Constitution. So that the People would readily understand and grasp its meaning and know that, their future was pre-ordained by the selfless acts of many patriots’ that toiled under liberties call and gave birth to a new nation as they themselves dedicated their lives for it.

As Madison explained, the Constitution is:

“of no more consequence than the paper on which it is written, unless it be stamped with the approbation of those to whom it is addressed . . . THE PEOPLE THEMSELVES.”

This is the fourth branch of our federal government and it is time for this nation’s citizens to rise from their slumber and exercise their authority… as we are living in times of a Tyrants reign once again, and this generation will answer Liberties call once again, or perish under the cruel yoke of tyranny.

Blueprint to Restore the Republic-Repeal the 17th Amendment

Next in our greatest hit series of Constitutional blunders is the 17th Amendment, given to us by Woodrow Wilson. Wilson was a Harvard law graduate and the nation’s first progressive president of the modern era. Obama being our latest incarnation of this famous liberal institution that never ceases to amaze me on the deliberate void of logic and common sense from such a learned institution. The first article in this series discussed the 16th Amendment with the creation of the Income Tax and its ability to establish then grow the behemoth of our federal government and bureaucracy that now threatens our very Republic. With bankruptcy through recalcitrant and uncontrolled spending and advocates its repeal. Our system is broken; many enemies of our constitutionally defined system have taken notice and advantage of this fact. One of the issues that have clouded our Republic since 1913 is the ratification of the17th Amendment, which usurped the power of the State Legislatures by removing the ability of these bodies to appoint, recall and direct Senators in their duties.

Since the Senate is considered a body that is a deliberative body, and is able to take a longer view of a situation than the House, has been turned into an Uber House of representatives with six-year terms.  Our States Legislatures are the same bodies that approve a Constitutional amendment; Senators traditionally were given the responsibility for the States and Peoples interest at a more detached level than the emotionally charged House of Representatives.

This allowed cooler heads to prevail and leadership in difficult times or issues than is the case with the Peoples House.

Now that Senators are subject to “Popular” election, they are less likely to act with boldness and deliberation, as they were able to prior to the 17th amendment as they are now more concerned with the next election than serving their State or People. Tom Coburn just made this point just before announcing his retirement.

A perfect example of this failure is the wretched Senator and Obama toady Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. He has been the major destructive force in the Senate for the last five years stopping one budget after another and all Republican reforms passed by the House of Representatives from reaching the Floor of the Senate. He alone has assisted Obama in the reckless spending by advocating and passing one continual spending resolution after another, which has given us trillion dollar deficits for every year of Obama’s presidency, close to 7 trillion to date.

This has supposedly become necessary, though is just another manufactured faux crisis, since the Senate has allowed Obama to shirk his legislative and Constitutional responsibility to forward to Congress his budget by the first week in February for each year he has been in office.

Much less, create a budget and pass one.

The Senate was created to make laws that require the president and government comply with the rule of law by their charge found in the Constitution as it stems from the original sovereignty granted to the Federal government from the States themselves, through Article 1:

The Congress shall have Power […] To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof. “

This is a complete abrogation and willful dereliction of governance…

Prior to the 17th Amendment Senators Reid probably would have been recalled from office for their abysmal performance and his lack of compliance with their Constitutional duties and refusal to take care of the “Peoples” and “States” business.

However, this is not possible since the electorate at large now elects Senators and not the State Legislatures…pity; Harry Reid needs a scorn-filled journey to ignominy.

After all a complete State Legislature (House & Senate) passing judgment on the qualifications, character and continual performance of a Senator is a completely different matter than the people at large. Voters today pass a superficial judgment on the latest narcissistic wonk that wants all the unbridled personal power that goes along with a seat in the Senate. By making, one silly promise after another which the electorate continually falls for, then promptly forgets, each election cycle, it is the same for the office of president.

After all Obama elected to the U.S Senate, can anyone really make a cogent argument that the Illinois legislature would have appointed him as a Senator? He was able to fool the voters, but an entire legislature where he continually “Voted Present” on controversial issues seems unlikely. These same legislators knew what Obama’s record was when the issue needed leadership, stamina, fortitude and courage…he was nowhere to be found and punted on every difficult question, by what else…Voting Present.

The same as he has done as president; that is when he is not actively destroying our Republic, to punish the people and nation as current examples. Therefore, it seems unlikely that he would have been “appointed” and had him thrust onto the national stage and ultimately become our president.

I therefore posit that that we are living the consequences of Obama, and it is due to the 17th Amendment alone, since the likelihood of his being appointed as, Senator in the first place is extremely remote. Since the Illinois legislature would have sent a competent person to represent them, and it would have been anyone but Obama. Nor would we be forced to suffer his continual waging of identity politics and calls for unbridled borrowing, spending, class warfare and tax increases as he drones on about his impossible to achieve concept of “Fair Share”, and his unconstitutional actions in his thirst for absolute power.

Obama himself is the best argument for the repeal of this abomination, which in practice is unworkable, and must be repealed.

If you want Peace you must prepare for War…Obama’s government is preparing for war against our own people.

Can we ignore the warnings…or will we just fail to act, the tyrant is at the door.
