April 21, 2014

Three years before Matt Drudge changed the world and how news would be consumed, President Bill Clinton's White House feared that the Internet was allowing average citizens, especially conservatives, to bypass legacy gatekeepers and access information that had previously been denied to them by the mainstream press.

No negotiation, only victory over anti-gun fanaticism

April 21, 2014

The false tally of background checks is newsworthy in its own right. However, at the end of its article, the Post reminded readers of something that applies to the gun control debate generally: the irrationality of some of the people that Second Amendment supporters are up against in that ongoing effort.

Iran Says U.S. Attitude to Choice of U.N. Envoy ‘Unacceptable’

April 21, 2014

Iran on Wednesday dismissed as “unacceptable” U.S. government reservations about Tehran’s choice of Hamid Abutalebi as its new U.N. ambassador, the official IRNA news agency reported.

“You’re entitled to criticize the government, and you can use words, you can use symbols, you can use telegraph, you can use Morse code, you can burn a flag,” he said, according to the News Sentinel.

The Justice was invited to deliver the annual “Rose Lecture” and the Tennessee law school. He discussed pivotal events in his time in the Supreme Court including the decision in 1989 to rule that flag-burning was constitutionally protected speech.

President Ronald Reagan appointed Justice Scalia to the Supreme Court in 1986.

He told the law students that the justices do not give credence to partisan politics, and that he doesn’t care which party controls the White House. He stands by a theory of originalism, meaning that the Constitution is a fixed law and not open to change or interpretation over time.

“The Constitution is not a living organism for Pete’s sake,” he said. “It’s a law. It means what it meant when it was adopted.”

Justice Scalia, Perhaps You Should Revolt

Antonin Scalia is considered by many to be an American treasure as an originalist jurist that was placed on the Supreme Court by Reagan and is currently the longest serving member of the court was giving the annual ‘Rose,Lecture’ at the University of Tennessee last week.

A student asked Justice Scalia does the government have the constitutional right to implement the income tax, his answer “but if it reaches a certain point, perhaps you should revolt.” This is interesting stuff to say the least while, we cannot read too much into his remarks. It, seems obvious that it was a comment on the state of the nation and the federal government in particular. We have so much wealth being transferred to Washington to be turned around, and sent right out again as corporate and individual welfare. These amounts come to about 3.5 trillion per year that directly benefit only 537 people (Congress, Senate, President and Vice-president) in the entire country.

These people are out federally elected officials that divide these tax revenues to best advantage to help them in their reelection efforts. The income tax has painted both parties into a corner and now the house of cards is about to come crashing down as we simply cannot afford such wealth transfers anymore. The income tax is a tyrant’s tax as it feeds directly on the fruits of the peoples labors, and is no longer benefiting ordinary Americans, that is the 51% that actually pay this tax.

The other 49% either pay no taxes or receive more in benefits than they pay and can only lead to our downfall. Apparently Justice Scalia has recognized this fact and finished his question with a sentiment that mirror this observation.

“The Constitution is not a living organism for Pete’s sake,” he said. “It’s a law. It means what it meant when it was adopted.” We should follow his lead and repeal the 16th amendment and return our federal government to a limited government of limited means and stop the tyrants hand that reach into our pockets for ever more of our hard earned wages.
